About CARP

Welcome to the blog site of the Community Alliance for Responsible Planning (CARP) Redlands Inc.

Who is CARP?

The Community Alliance for Responsible Planning (CARP) Redlands Inc was formed in April 2004, when the newly-elected pro-development Council changed the 2003 Draft Redlands Planning Scheme to include massive urban expansion – against the wishes of the community.

The Redlands 2030 Community Plan is the most current embodiment of our community’s wishes to define the limits of population growth and stop urban expansion.  Its Vision and Values clearly describe the kind of future we want.

CARP is an alliance of individuals and community organisations drawn from across the Redlands, united to honour and represent the clearly documented wishes of the Redlands community.

Since its inception in 2004, CARP has campaigned to raise community awareness and enable the community to have its voice heard, whenever it was apparent that the community’s wishes were not being upheld.

In particular, we raise awareness and enable people to have their say during the statutory public consultation processes that are a requirement in all land-use planning.

We also campaign during local government elections to let the community know which councillors are supporting the community’s vision – and which are not.

Community campaigns to date:

  • Redlands Planning Scheme 2004
  • Inaugural South East Queensland Regional Plan 2005-26
  • Redland City Council Local Government Election 2008
  • South East Queensland Regional Plan 2009-31
  • Redland City Council Local Government Election 2012
  • Redlands Planning Scheme (City Plan) 2015
  • South East Queensland Regional Plan 2015-41
  • Currently supporting Redlands2030 Inc – campaign to remove Toondah Harbour Priority Development Area & stop development of Moreton Bay Ramsar site
